The subscription turnaround
- Context
- Tokopedia’s subscription product put recurring bills on autopilot, an intern-built MVP doing real production work: 4–5k transactions a day for tens of thousands of users.
- Problem
- Almost 90% of daily transactions failed: system errors, expired cards, empty wallets.
- What I did
- Rebuilt the system end to end with frontend and design; eliminated internal server errors with systematic retries; integrated OVO as it became Tokopedia’s primary wallet; shipped payment-expiry notifications and top-up nudges.
- Outcome
- Daily success rose from under 10% to 30–40%. Promoted to Senior.
What I’d tell you about this one: the first fix wasn’t code. It was making the metric honest. A success counts once; a failure counts only after every retry is spent.
